Questions and answers
What is WW2 Battle Forces?
A turn-based squad RPG set in the Second World War, for Android and iPhone. You build a roster from the soldiers, commanders, ships and aircraft of 1939 to 1945, train them up, and lead them in five-against-five battles through the campaigns of Europe, the Mediterranean and the Pacific.
When does it come out?
We're testing the game now. The first launch is planned for early 2027 in a few countries, with the rest of the world following. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it's out where you are.
Which phones and tablets will it run on?
Android phones and tablets, and iPhone and iPad.
How much will it cost?
It's free to download and play. It has optional in-app purchases, and optional rewarded ads: you choose when to watch one, and you get a reward for it.
Can I help test it?
Yes, please. Join the waitlist, say whether you play on Android or iPhone, and we'll invite you when beta testing opens there.
Who's in the roster?
144 characters from 13 nations: infantry, paratroopers, medics, engineers, commandos, resistance fighters, pilots and commanders, including Montgomery, Eisenhower, Virginia Hall, Desmond Doss and "Mad Jack" Churchill.
On the Air and Sea fronts, 189 ships and aircraft, from the Spitfire and the Lancaster to HMS Warspite and USS Enterprise, are crewed by characters from your roster.
How true to history is it?
Each of the 138 battles is fought on its real ground, with a short note on what happened there, and its bonuses come from the events themselves. At Omaha, for example, destroyers ran in almost to the sand to support the infantry, so US units hold firmer there.
It's still a game: squads fight five against five, and the numbers are tuned for play rather than for the history books.
Can I play the other side?
Partway through the campaign a second track opens: the same war seen from the other side of the line, fighting Allied squads. You can switch between the two whenever you like.
Both are told the same way: as history, without propaganda. German units carry a plain eagle, and the game never shows the swastika.
Who makes it?
Klassic Studios, a small independent studio in Perth, Western Australia.
